Bayani Association donates hygiene kits to Dandan Middle School
The Bayani Association donated hygiene kits to Dandan Middle School last Friday.
Twenty bottles of hand sanitizers, 100 deodorants, 240 rolls of tissue, and three boxes of sanitary napkins worth $550 were handed over to the school.
“We are pleased to turn over these hygiene products to Dandan Middle School,” Bayani Association president Mario Mayuga said.

“We’re very thankful for their generous contributions and also for seeking options,” school principal Lynn Mendiola said.
She said the group reached out to them to find out what they needed.
“I said, ‘To be honest with you I have a lot of school supplies, I have notebooks, MREs, water bottles but what we really need are hygiene kits like hand sanitizers,’” Mendiola said.
Mendiola noted that the hygiene products are a big help since they spent a lot of their funds on these items last year. Dandan Middle School has 341 students.
“This is a middle school so body odor is a big issue, and so I said deodorant and sanitary napkins are essential because last year we spent a lot of our local finds on these items,” she said.
Mayuga said they were supposed to donate sports equipment but the need of the school changed.
“Our original plan was to donate sports equipment but after the typhoon, we talked to Ms. Lynn to see if they still need the sports equipment but somebody donated already. So we asked the principal what other things they need,” Mayuga said.
The donation was made using proceeds from the association’s 14th anniversary event, Queen of the World gay beauty pageant, held last July. They were also able to donate ceiling fans to the Office on Aging through the funds they raised.
