Jeff “Joker” Barit and Nolan Cultura topped their respective weekly darts and billiards tournaments held last Wednesday at Jonny’s Bar & Grill in Garapan.

Barit overcame the challenge of Alfred Hocog to rule the one-day double- elimination round weekly darts competition.

Barit went undefeated on his way to the finals. He defeated Paul “The Flash” Quizon, Jun “Shocker” Santos, K.J. Villagomez, and Erwin Clavecillas to clinch the first berth in the title match.

Hocog, his finals opponent, lost his opening match against Matt Santos to drop to the loser’s bracket.

He then clawed his way back dispatching Leo Wania, Jun “Shocker” Santos, Pete Togawa, Richard Santos, and Villagomez to earn the right of facing Barit for the weekly championship.

Barit, for going undefeated, enjoyed a twice-to-beat advantage against Hocog and lost the first match to force a you-or-me showdown.

He then made the necessary adjustments with his game to end Hocog’s bid for a Cinderella finish.

Barit won $100 and a trophy, while Hocog settled for the $70 runners-up prize and T-shirt.

Ray “Udas” Cepeda, Vince “Vinsanity” Sablan, Gilbert Gatmaitan, Boom “Bang” Cruz, Patrick “Tako” Taitano, Claro Bicol, and Darrol Atalig were the other players who joined last Wednesday’s tournament.

In billiards, Cultura proved to be the week’s Pool King after breezing past his opponents. He dispatched veteran cue artists Boyet Sequioco, Jerry Soriano, and last week’s champion Rey Hermogenes to secure a finals seat.

Joseph Achas arranged a championship match with Cultura after beating Ray Matsunaga, Rowel Mariano, and Hermogenes in the loser’s bracket.

Achas, who beat Rodel Dela Cruz in the first round, lost to Hermogenes in his next match to drop to the loser’s bracket.

He then exacted revenge against Hermogenes to secure a championship match against Cultura.

Pacific Amusement, Inc. organizes both weekly darts and billiards tournaments in cooperation with Marpac, Bud Light, and Budweiser.

The next location of the weekly competitions will be announced at a later date. For more information, call Warlee Ellama at 233-4397 or 285-5967.
