Tudela welcomes new Women and Veteran Leaders Programs
In an announcement on Tuesday, Islands Society launched the Women and Veterans Leadership Programs in American Samoa, Guam, and the CNMI—a move that drew praise from Saipan and Northern Islands Municipal Council chair Antonia Tudela.
The new leadership recognition programs provide a global platform for local leaders to share their insights on how to improve the health and wellbeing of islanders.
“According to Island Society president Eddie Walsh, the organization intends to provide veterans and leaders in the CNMI a global platform to share their insights on how the health and wellbeing of individuals can be improved in island communities around the world,” Tudela said.
“Through this project, Islands Society recognizes a local veteran from different island communities in the Northern Marianas each quarter and provides the selected veteran an opportunity to contribute to the health and wellbeing of individuals in island communities based on the veteran’s own life experiences,” she added.
According to Keiko Ono, managing director of the local female leaders program at Islands Society, the organization believes that veterans and female leaders should be given a global platform to share their insights on how the health and wellbeing of girls and women can be improved in island communities around the world.
Nominations are now being accepted for Northern Mariana Islands Veteran Leaders, Guam Female Leaders, and American Samoa Female Leaders through the Islands Society’s website.
Tudela said this is a great initiative for the islands as it would help recognize local leaders and show their full potential in promoting health and wellness.
