LTA continues to support Saipan high schools
In the aftermath of Typhoon Soudelor, the CNMI has received an outpouring of donations and aid from numerous organizations. With the formation of the Commonwealth Advocates for Recovery Efforts, the CNMI now has a clearinghouse for recovery donations from various donors. At the onset of the recovery, the Latte Training Academy provided nearly $4,000 of water to residents of Saipan. As recovery efforts continue, the organization has shifted its focus to ensuring that Saipan students are able to get back to learning.
Recently, Latte Training Academy and Island Training Solutions provided $500 in supplies to Kagman High School, as well as six picnic tables to Marianas High School. Both organizations are prepared to provide $500 to Saipan Southern High School; however they are working with school leadership to identify the school’s specific needs.
“We know that our donation is only a drop in the bucket, but like many of the donors and supporters of our community’s recovery efforts, we believe that every bit helps. As advocates for education and workforce development, we felt it was most appropriate to place our contributions toward ensuring that our students can get back to learning as quickly as possible. Our Public School System has done a fantastic job in ensuring that our students are able return to learning, so we wanted to show our support for their efforts, as they have always remained a key partner in our goals,” said LTA secretary Tina Palacios.
The organization’s recent contribution is a small part of its plan to aid in the CNMI’s development. In the summer of 2015, the LTA board announced the launch of its Founders Scholarship Program for Saipan high school students who participate in the Latte Training Academy program. The scholarship program will allow students to compete for $10,000 in college scholarships in the spring of 2016.

The vision of the organization’s founders and through the leadership of the current board, we are and will continue to ensure that our community not only recovers, but thrives in the years ahead,” said Island Training Solutions’ Jim Arenovski.
