Bragging rights and the chance to keep the perpetual trophy in your school for a year will be up for grabs when Pacific Islands Club hosts its annual dodgeball tournament on Oct. 24, Saturday, at the tennis courts of the San Antonio hotel resort.
Organizers had sent out invitations to all public and private elementary schools to fill the 16 slots available for the said tournament.
Teams must be composed of five boys and five girls from grades 1 to 5. Rules of the tournament will be the same and all elementary grade levels must join.
Seeding will begin in the morning of Saturday, starting at 9:30am, after the captain’s meeting. The double elimination and knockout games will be held in the afternoon session.
PIC Sports, Entertainment, and Activities director Glenn Policare said this year’s edition is free of charge after Seventh Day Adventist Dental Clinic, in cooperation with Bridge Capital and the hosts, shouldered the expense.
“We have hosted this tournament for a number of years now. It has always been a hit with the kids and teachers alike,” added Policare, also the tournament director.
“In the past, we tend to only see the older kids out on the court. This year, we are asking the schools to include all grade levels to keep the teams evenly balanced,” added Policare.
The Top 2 schools will be receiving sports goods while all students will get tournament shirts and free lunch.
