7 Saipan public schools to have full day classes

With only three schools that are without power, the Public School System will begin implementing extended full-day class sessions in seven of Saipan’s public schools: two elementary schools, four middle schools and one high school.
Beginning Oct. 5, William S. Reyes Elementary School, Koblerville Elementary School, Chacha Oceanview Middle School, San Antonio Middle School, Dandan Middle School, Hopwood Junior High School, and Saipan Southern High School will have full day classes.
Oleai Elementary School will begin its full day schedule on Tuesday, Oct. 13, 2015.
Exactly two months ago today, Saipan’s public schools suffered extensive damage resulting from the ferocious strength of Typhoon Soudelor, forcing school district officials to cancel the Aug. 24-scheduled early opening of the new school year.
“As all of our Saipan public school operations return to normal, it is critical that we continue to plan, prepare, and respond to the need of our public school students in ensuring that learning is not interrupted and they receive optimum learning opportunities,” Education Commissioner Dr. Rita A. Sablan said.
“We remain committed by providing an engaging learning environment to ensure that each of our public school students receives quality education,” she added.
By Oct. 5, Monday, William S. Reyes Elementary School will begin classes at 8am and dismissal will be at 3:3pm.
Koblerville Elementary School’s classes will start at 7:30am and dismissal will be at 3:30pm.
For Chacha Oceanview Middle School, Dandan Middle School, San Antonio Middle School, and Hopwood Jr. High School middle schools on Saipan, class sessions will commence at 8am and dismissal will be at 3:30pm.
Saipan Southern High School will begin class session at 8:15am and dismissal will be at 3:45pm.
