MGA October Ace on Saturday
Marianas Golf Association members continue their hunt to clinch berths in their club’s yearend tournament when the September Ace of the Month takes place on Saturday, Oct. 3 at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort’s west course in Kagman.
Marianas Golf Association president J.J. Atalig, seen here teeing off in Day 1 of the 2015 Tournament of Champions at the Laolao Bay Golf & Resort, said winners of the Ace of the Month tourneys need to meet a required number of games in the monthly tournament in order to qualify for the end-of-the-year Ace of Aces event. MGA president J.J. Atalig is again reminding their members to be at Lao Lao Bay at 9am since the tee off starts one hour after.
Atalig added that winners of the Ace of the Month need to meet a required number of games in the monthly tournament in order to qualify for the end-of-the-year Ace of Aces event.
“We encourage all MGA members and Ace of the Month winners to join the tournament on Saturday,” said Atalig.
MGA has been behind in holding their monthly tournaments and they had just recently concluded with their August Ace last Sept. 19 where association secretary Geri Dela Cruz claimed the title.
Typhoon Soudelor caused the cancellation of several sports events last month.
Dela Cruz shot a net score of 69 at COP to join Harry Nakamura (January), Calvin Yamagishi (February), Jess Seman (March), Martin Naputi (April), Jenny Hegland, (May), Chandler DeLoatch, (June), and Jay Muna (July) as monthly winners.
Atalig added that MGA is still accepting new members whether a newcomer or a golf veteran.
Joey Dela Cruz (vice president), James Benavente (treasurer), Chandler DeLoatch (tournament director), and Jerry Ayuyu (handicap chairman) are the other MGA officers.
MGA was established three years ago and now has 30 active members made up of young and senior, rookies and veterans, and men and women CNMI residents who enjoy playing golf.
The group, recently, also made a donation of $500 to join other local organizations in a fundraising drive for school supplies by public elementary school students.
