Tony Barner is new EVP of Century Insurance

Antonio “Tony” Barner has been appointed as the new executive vice president of Century Insurance Group and Century Insurance Guam. He will be based at the CIC headquarters in Guam.

Barner is a Chartered Insurance Operations Professional and holds a Masters of Public Administration from the Andrew Young School of Public Policy at Georgia State University. He brings over 22 years of experience in finance and insurance.

Barner’s career started at the Bank of America as a commercial lender. He then moved to the insurance industry joining the Office of Insurance and Fire Safety Commissioner of Georgia in Atlanta in 1996. He worked as a senior financial analyst where he was responsible for monitoring the financial solvency and compliance of all the Georgia life and health, health maintenance organization, and provider sponsored healthcare corporations operating within the state along with monitoring select reinsurers for financial solvency. He later became the Head of the Limited Risk Entities section of the insurance department.

In 2000, Barner became the director of Compliance and was later promoted to chief operating officer for Grammercy Insurance Co. of Dallas, Texas. Under his strategic planning Grammercy Insurance gained access to 31 new state and numerous international markets. Also during his tenure, Grammercy secured three A.M. Best rating updates within an 18-month period. He also increased their capital and built a profitable operation. (CIC)
