Applicants for the Saipan Higher Education Financial Assistance only have a week to submit supporting documents, according to SHEFA administrator Merissa S. Rasa.

Applications were due this year in July and now supporting documents are due on Sept. 30.

“Supporting documents have to be complete upon submission,” Rasa said.

So far SHEFA has reported a total of 980 applications for fall 2015. A total of 280 applicants are new while 700 are ongoing or returning applications. There are still pending documents applicants need to turn in for approval.

Also, SHEFA scholars who recently graduated need to submit a copy of their degree, an official transcript, SHEFA graduate form, and Employment Verification Form. The graduate form and verification form can be downloaded at www.saipanshefa.net.

Rasa said that as of July 30, 2015, SHEFA has collected a total of $74,550.

SHEFA recipients have three months after graduating or non-enrollment to submit the documents for compliance purposes. Threat of legal action faces those who fail to comply with this rule.

“Also, all SHEFA announcements such as dates for release of award (batches), deadlines, and scholarship/employment opportunities can be found on our Facebook page. Just search SHEFA,” she said.
