IT&E network expansion equipment arrives on Saipan
As previously announced, as part of an additional $30 million investment that IT&E is making in the Northern Mariana Islands, IT&E will greatly expand the capacity of its current cellular 4G network on Saipan. IT&E confirms that all of the equipment necessary to complete this expansion is now on Saipan and safely stored until it is put into use. The installation of this equipment will begin this month and the project will be completed in early 2016.

“Due to the popularity of our 4G network, IT&E will not only double the capacity of its existing cellular 4G network [on] Saipan but also we will add LTE [Long-Term Evolution] capability to the most densely populated sections of the island at the same time. LTE will provide not only more capacity to our customers but it will also enable our customers to receive data speeds that are many times faster than the speeds available to them today,” said John M. Compton, IT&E’s chief operating officer.
Because this expansion will provide an improved service experience to IT&E cellular 4G customers, Hans Mickelson, IT&E’s manager of Marketing and Enterprise Sales in the CNMI, said, “Of course, we are excited to bring this additional speed and capacity to all of our 4G customers but we are most excited for our customers because they will now be able to more fully utilize the benefits and features of their LTE-capable smartphones and other LTE capable devices.”
Because IT&E knows how important this additional capacity and higher speed data is to the community, IT&E is committed to keeping the public closely informed about their progress with this expansion project, and will notify customers when this expansion becomes available in new areas. (IT&E)
