Saipan Young Professionals volunteer at Empty Vessel Ministry
Members of the Saipan Young Professionals continued their typhoon recovery efforts by volunteering with the Empty Vessel Ministry Foundation on Saturday, Sept. 19. The SYP Committee helped sort, fold, and organize clothing and other items donated by community members to the Empty Vessel Ministry.
“We’re happy to work alongside an organization dedicated to meeting the needs of our community, especially those still affected by Typhoon Soudelor,” said SYP chair Mable Ayuyu. “Their mission speaks volumes and we witnessed that today.”

SYP member and educator Kristal Johnson said: “It was such a great experience working with my peers for such a worthy cause. My husband and I are always looking for ways to help our community no matter how small.”
When asked if she would volunteer again, Johnson said: “We would definitely do it again! It was a humbling experience to see those in need have smiles on their faces when they came in and found things they liked.”
Ayuyu said she’s thankful to all the Saipan Young Professionals members and friends who continue to dedicate their time to volunteering. “Each month we hope to work together with a different organization that aims to make a positive difference for our community,” she said.
Empty Vessel founder and director Rose Smith expressed her gratitude to the Saipan Young Professionals for choosing to volunteer with them.
The Saipan Young Professionals would like to encourage all community members to donate their worn/used clothing to the Empty Vessel Ministry Foundation office located on Middle Road across EZ Mart.
