Denmar E. Malabanan, a 27-year-old ex-convict who was just sentenced in February to 17 days in prison for domestic violence, was arrested again in Chalan Kanoa on Wednesday, this time for allegedly punching and biting his current girlfriend.

Malabanan was arrested for assault and battery, and disturbing the peace. A $3,000 cash bail was imposed. Preliminary hearing will be on Sept. 22 at 9am.

Police said it was the victim’s father who reported the alleged beating to authorities on Wednesday. The father showed photos of her daughter’s injuries to the two responding officers.

The officers proceeded to Malabanan’s house and arrested the suspect.

One officer saw that the alleged victim had a bruise on her left eye, a scratch mark on the forehead, a bruise or a bite mark on her left shoulder, and a bruise on her left thigh.

The woman told police that her boyfriend, Malabanan, beat her up on Sunday during an argument. The alleged victim stated that Malabanan punched her repeatedly in the head and bit her on the shoulder as she tried to evade his punches.

She said she tried to go to a store to call her father on Tuesday night but Malabanan saw her.

Last February, Malabanan was slapped with a 17-day prison term after he pleaded guilty to disturbing the peace. He was given credit for 17 days of time served.

The case stemmed from an incident on June 23, 2013, when Malabanan grabbed a broom from his then-girlfriend and broke it. He then grabbed the eyeglasses from her face and threw them out the door in the present of her son.

In 2007, Malabanan pleaded guilty to robbery.
