Fearing for her life, a mother sought the police’s help against her son who allegedly turns violent whenever under the influence of illegal drugs.

The mother said that Nestor Camacho Taitano would scream at night or come home early morning and talk to himself. She said she is scared to stay at her house in Dandan, believing that her son might hurt her or even kill her.

Police acted on the mother’s plea for help and arrested the 40-year-old Taitano on Monday morning for criminal mischief and disturbing the peace.

At a hearing on Tuesday, Superior Court Associate Judge Teresa Kim-Tenorio imposed a $2,000 cash bail and set the preliminary hearing for Sept. 25 at 9am.

Assistant public defender Cindy Nesbit was appointed as counsel for Taitano. Assistant attorney general Matt Baisley appeared for the government.

Police said that two officers responded to a residence in San Vicente on Monday at 7:39pm after the victim called for help.

When the officers arrived at the scene, they saw several objects scattered in front of the house. They also saw a machete stuck on the screen window of the garage and could hear loud music coming from one of the rooms.

The officers walked over to the window of a room where the loud music was coming from and saw Taitano sleeping on the bed. The officers tried to wake up Taitano but he did not respond.

A car later came and three women, including Taitano’s mother, got down. The mother, who appeared very scared, told police she was the caller. She started crying and told police about her son’s violent behavior when on drugs.

One officer went inside the house and saw drawers and cabinets strewn on the floor.

The mother said she left the house last Friday and slept at her daughter’s because she was scared of her son. When she returned home on Monday at 5am, she saw the front door of the house wide open and the window frame of Taitano’s room pulled out and hanging.

She also saw the machete and scissors on the ground in front of the door. She went back to her daughter’s house and called the police.
