A teenager was arrested on Friday afternoon for allegedly breaking into a house in Chalan Laulau last month.

Alonzo U. Pedro, 18, was taken to the Superior Court yesterday morning for his initial appearance on charges of burglary, and disturbing the peace.

Associate Judge Kenneth L. Govendo imposed a $2,500 cash bail for Pedro’s temporary release.

Preliminary hearing will be on June 13 at 9am.

Detective Alexander Sakisat stated in his report that a police officer responded to a reported burglary and disturbance at a residence in Chalan Laulau last May 20 at 3:37am.

Sakisat said he and another detective conducted further investigation last May 28 and interviewed a female juvenile.

Sakisat said according to the girl, at 3:30am of May 20 she was in her bedroom preparing to sleep when she noticed someone opened the door to her bedroom and closed it again.

When the door opened again, the girl noticed a male she identified as Pedro. She woke up her juvenile boyfriend and told him that someone was inside the house.

The boyfriend got up to check on the person. He then saw Pedro peeking into the hallway from the living room area.

The boyfriend chased Pedro, who jumped out of the living room window. The burglar ran to a jungle area that headed to a direction where a wedding party was held at the time. The boyfriend stopped the chase after he noticed a police vehicle on the main road where he then flagged down the officers.

Sakisat said another juvenile witness stated that he brought Pedro from the wedding party to the girl’s residence where he introduced Pedro to the family.

The juvenile said after they were done he and Pedro returned back to the party.

Later that evening, the witness saw Pedro entering the jungle and was gone for a while. Pedro later came back, breathing hard.

Pedro took off his shirt at the back of the house where the party was taking his place and placed his shirt behind a table and a chair.
