CHILDREN’S DIGNITY WEEK
SFALC hands out hygiene kits, lunchboxes to kids
Children from various villages received special presents from the Saipan Fil-American Lions Club last Saturday at the Carolinian Utt in Garapan as part of the celebration of the Lions Clubs’ Children’s Dignity Week.
About 30 children ranging in ages from 3 to 10 from Oleai Elementary School, William Reyes Elementary School, Garapan Elementary School, San Vicente Elementary School, Koblerville Elementary School, and Mt. Carmel School attended the event.

They received hygiene kits containing baby powder, toothpaste, toothbrush, hand sanitizer, face towel, tissue, comb, cologne, soap, cotton buds, wipes, and first aid kits as well as lunch boxes.
“Thank you to Ms. Lei Hicaro for donating 15 lunchboxes, that’s why nobody went home empty-handed. Thank you to all officers, members and fellow Lions who joined us during the event, and to our region chair, Lion Ladyvir Canape,” said club secretary Mario Mayuga.
The children were also given donuts as a special treat.
Children’s Dignity Week is part of Lions Worldwide Week of Service of the Lions Club International, which kicked off last Aug. 30. Lions around the world come together to share in service activities that promote the dignity of the most vulnerable members of society, children.
It is also a part of the celebration of Lions Clubs International’s Centennial, and will give Lions from around the world an opportunity to take part in Lions Clubs International’s Centennial goal of serving 100 million people by their 100th anniversary.
Aside from serving the needs of children, it was also a great opportunity for residents to learn more about the SFALC, its work, and opportunities to get involved.
“We want to share the great things we’re doing in the community, and let others know how they can help,” said the SFALC Club president Annamae Adaza.
