HAGATNA, Guam—To help those who gone through the devastating effects of Typhoon Soudelor on Saipan, Bank of Guam is encouraging all Guam schools to assist in providing aid through its “Change for Change” coin drive. All Department of Education schools are invited to participate by collecting their change and donating it to the Typhoon Soudelor Relief Fund. The Bank of Guam has two branches on Saipan: Garapan and Chalan Piao.

The coin drive will run until Sept. 20, 2015, and will involve all public and private schools on Guam.

Donations should be dropped off at the Hagatna and Harmon branches from Monday to Thursday. Donations should be clearly marked with school name, contact person, and phone number.

At the end of the drive, the bank will recognize all participating schools with the following:

– Certificate of appreciation to participating schools

– An announcement acknowledging the participating schools and reporting the total amount received from the coin drive.

– Inclusion in the bank’s flat screens.

“We continue to pray for the recovery of our neighbors [on] Saipan and are thankful to be able to work with the Bank of Guam on this coin drive,” said Guam Department of Education Superintendent Jon Fernandez. “I am confident that our employees and families will step forward, as they always do, to help in this effort.”

Lou A. Leon Guerrero, Bank of Guam president and board chair added, “We are grateful for the opportunity to help Saipan, our island sister. We especially thank Superintendent Jon Fernandez for his willingness and cooperation. Together, we extend our Chamorro spirit of generosity and ayuda so that Saipan can renew.”
