Man gets 4 years in prison for ‘ice’ possession
A man arrested last May for alleged trafficking of methamphetamine or “ice” pleaded guilty yesterday to possession of controlled substance and was slapped with a four-year prison term.
Zhi Peng Huang, also known as Dandan and Boss, signed a plea deal with the government. He pleaded guilty to possession of controlled substance.
Last week, the Office of the Attorney General dismissed the trafficking of a controlled substance charge against Huang.
At a change of plea hearing yesterday, Superior Court Associate Judge Joseph N. Camacho accepted the plea deal and the defendant’s guilty plea.
Camacho ordered the defendant to serve the four-year prison term day for day and required him to pay a $2,000 fine.
The judge directed the clerk of court to notify the U.S. Department of Homeland Security about the judgment order since Huang is a Chinese citizen.
Camacho vacated the scheduled Oct. 5, 2015, jury trial.
Chief Prosecutor Leonardo Rapadas appeared for the government. Assistant public defender Mathew Meyer served as counsel for Huang.
Police detective Andrew Taimanao stated in his report that a cooperating source told him and police detective Catherine B. Pangelinan last March 28 that Huang was in possession of about 10 grams of “ice” and that he sells “ice” from his apartment unit in Dandan.
Taimanao said during a sting operation last April 2, their cooperating source managed to buy $150 worth of .8 gross grams of “ice” from Huang at his apartment in Dandan and $200 more worth of 1.4 grams of “ice” last April 6 in the parking lot of Han Nam Supermarket in Koblerville.
