If you can’t go to them, they will go to you.

The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration said yesterday that that they are now accepting presentation requests from business establishments and companies with Filipino employees who want to know more about OWWA membership.

Welfare officer Julie Fabian said that this campaign is part of their efforts to bolster membership with OWWA, the government welfare institution that promotes the interest of Filipino worker members with programs and services aimed at their social protection.

Fabian noted that there are Filipino workers who cannot find time to come to their office so they want to make the process easier for them. “We do make arrangements at the request of any company who has Filipinos as employees,” Fabian told Saipan Tribune.

She emphasized that there is no minimum number of Filipino employees required for a company to request a presentation on the benefits of OWWA membership.

A minimal $25 membership contribution per year entitles an OWWA member to numerous benefits and services, including insurance and health care benefits, education and training benefits, workers welfare assistance program, repatriation program, and reintegration program.

Fabian earlier said that an OWWA membership is a form of insurance for Filipinos working overseas, and its coverage applies even while the member is on vacation or loses his or her job within a one-year period from the date of signing up.

For the month of January, Fabian said a total of 161 Filipino workers signed up for OWWA membership.

“That number is an indication that more Filipinos in the CNMI are starting to realize the importance of being an OWWA member because it really is a form of security for them,” she said.

Fabian encourages those who have not signed up as OWWA members to visit the POLO-OWWA office at the ground floor of the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe and present a copy of their CW status or the USCIS receipt acknowledging their application, a valid passport, and the $25 fee.
