The Philippine Consulate General, through the Philippine Overseas Labor Office, will be conducting two more training courses for Filipino workers for the first quarter of 2012.

Welfare officer Julie Fabian said yesterday that they are now accepting applicants for Basic Automotive Troubleshooting and Basic Nihongo.

The Basic Automotive Troubleshooting class will run for six Saturdays, from Feb. 18 to March 24, 8:30am to 12:30pm, under the instruction of novice instructor Rosendo Maceda of Joeten Motors.

Meanwhile, Basic Nihongo will be handled by Jun Rodriguez for six Sundays, from Feb. 19 to March 25, 1:30pm to 5:30pm.

“We decided to provide additional courses to maximize our resources. Moreover, we had to wait for confirmation for our instructors who were able to find time out of their busy schedules to help their fellow Filipino workers on island gain new skills,” Fabian told Saipan Tribune.

POLO earlier announced the schedule for two other courses. Tailoring and Dressmaking Batch 2 already started on Jan. 28 with 15 students. The course instructor is Domingo Del Rosario.

Basic Computer Operations II will have two classes, which begin today from 1pm to 4:30pm and from 5pm to 8:30pm under Jousel Regilme and Mar V. Masilungan.

All classes will be held at the Filipino Workers Resource Center at the ground floor of the Marianas Business Plaza in Susupe.

As of yesterday, Fabian said they have 45 enrollees for Basic Computer Operations II. “We are thinking of merging the two classes if no additional applicants enroll in the course,” she added.

Fabian urged Filipino workers in the CNMI to learn new skills through their training courses, which are offered free of charge.

Interested applicants should bring their CW receipt/receiving copy from U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, valid passport, and one ID picture.
