NAP assistance should be based on family size

I want to clarify my understanding of the information I gathered from various sources regarding the food stamp grant. I understand that there should be basis for food stamp award because of the calamity that befell us, which should be based on the family size and not what the family gets month in and month out award.

All of us experience hardship—either our food supply is made stale because they are wet, or is out of the refrigeration system which is the usual preservative of food.

I thought the typhoon was an equalizer—we are all the same, we lost many things that belonged to us but the pressing need is food and water. All of us without exemption are in dire need of food and water.

Mr. Kilili, can we say we are all hungry and thirsty and the consumption is based on the number of people in the family?

Will the Department of Agriculture, particularly the Food Stamp Program, have any problem in disbursing the $3.5 million to all Saipan residents to help them eat three times a day?

We were hit by the typhoon without considering the race or status in life as with money or without. Couldn’t we give the food supply based on the number of the family rather than based on the race and the amount of food stamp each family need to receive?

Saipan politicians and bureaucrats, have a big mind and a big heart. These are hard times for all of us. I do not have figures in my head and in my hand but if we have the next month to suffer, we probably will have a million left from the money set aside for the food stamp assistance.
