Carey and her Kitty Killers teammates Charlie Epperson and Cameron O’Neal completed 14 laps in the six-hour race that started at 6am and ended at 12pm. PGB Mamam Buddies had the second most laps with 13, while Team PARDS and Team Batman registered 11 laps each.

In the solo division, Patrick Camacho topped the men’s field with his 12 laps, while Rose Dan Aponik came in at second with 11 laps, and Tenorio rounded out the Top 3 with his nine laps. In the women’s division, three bikers tied for first with Michelle Santos, Blanda Camacho, and Tara Reyes Tydingco having six laps apiece.

The race, which was organized by BikeFix’s Derek and Monessa Horton and Eric Tydingco, raised $2,500. The money will be turned over to Northern Mariana Islands Cycling Federation, which will distribute the donation to its members affected by Typhoon Soudelor that hit Saipan last Aug. 2.

“It was a hard but fun race with my Kitty Killers teammates Cameron O’Neal, Charlie Epperson. Thank you to the organizers for putting this together and to the volunteers who made the road safe for six hours. Thank you to all riders for their support to Saipan,” said Carey, who started her cycling and triathlon careers on Saipan before moving to Guam a couple of years ago.

“We all want to help you guys. I know Saipan people are strong so keep your heads up,” she added.

Meanwhile, the Race For Saipan was made possible through the help of Docomo Pacific, Triple J, volunteers from Navy SeaBees, Flamingo Restaurant, Poki-Fry, Port of Mocha, Java Hut, TakeCare Insurance Company, Inc, TUNU Guam, Guam Fit, SUP Shack Guam, and Essence Hair Salon.
