TSL Complex’s REM Center to be used as VOAD warehouse

The TSL Complex’s REM Center has been made available by Tan Holding Corp. as the warehouse to be used by the Voluntary Organizations Active in Disaster for various donations that will be coming in from off island.

“Anything that’s not dedicated to a particular organization will be stored there,” vice president for corporate business development Alex Sablan said.

According to Sablan, this will be where inventorying and repacking will be done prior to distribution.

Tan Holdings will let the VOAD make use of the REM Center for a month.

Sablan said the center is expected to be utilized starting this week.

FEMA and the Seventh Day Adventist Donations Management Team, who were requested by the administration of Gov. Eloy S. Inos to provide technical assistance and support for nonprofit donation management, already visited the site and began the planning to bring it into full operation.

They are working on moving donations from various locations to the warehouse. They are also working on the volunteer force to manage the site.

Prior to their departure from Saipan, members of the 31st Marine Expeditionary Unit also used the REM Center as their temporary housing facility.

Some of the Marines aboard the USS Ashland stayed there for two weeks.

The use of REM Center, which serves as one of many of Tan Holding’s contribution to relief efforts on island, is worth $10,000 for both projects.

“We didn’t charge anything for those,” Sablan said.
