Last day of registration for NAP disaster aid today
Today is the last day of registration for the Disaster Program of the Department of Community and Cultural Affairs’ Nutritional Assistance Program.
According to NAP, registration for the Disaster Program at the NAP Office in As Lito will close at 8pm.
“Disaster Program applicants must register at the designated Disaster Program booth. DCCA NAP will not be accepting registrations after Aug. 26,” NAP said.
NAP stressed that although registration will end, they will continue to issue disaster benefits to all registered households over the next few days. They will serve households registered according to a number system.
Today, those who are already registered and have numbers D1501 to D2300 will be served by NAP. On Thursday, numbers D2301 to D3100 will be accommodated while on Friday, those who are holding D3101 to D3900 will be served.
NAP director Walter Macaranas said the same eligibility guidelines are still being used and rumors that it is being waived are not true.
In order to meet the ongoing need, DCCA NAP will be open until 8pm daily. They are aiming to serve 800 registered disaster program applicants per day.
For the Supplemental Program, which is for NAP recipients, any household that has not yet received its supplemental benefit for August 2015 may apply at the NAP office.
NAP reminds households that are already receiving the maximum benefit for their household size that they will not be eligible for a supplement.
As of Aug. 24, only six households were denied due to excess income/resources for those who hold TCDs, savings bonds, cash on hand, savings and/or checking that are $2,000 and beyond for all households and $3,000 for households with at least one member aged 55 years or older.
NAP Coupons and Disaster Coupons issued beginning Aug. 20, 2015, will expire on Sept. 30, 2015. The restriction of NAP Local Coupons to purchase only local food commodities has been lifted, which means it can be used to purchase imported food items and eligible items up to the expiry date.
