Financial assistance climbs to nearly $2M

Financial assistance for those affected by Typhoon Soudelor has reached $1.9 million for individual households.

As of Friday, registrants for assistance has reached more than 7,000, said Stephen DeBlasio, federal coordinating officer of the Federal Emergency Management Assistance.

Other forms of assistance included 71,000 meals and 1,794 tarpaulins distributed so far to typhoon survivors, he added. FEMA said as of Thursday, inspections had been completed for 670 households.

Visitors to the FEMA Disaster Recovery Center at the Pedro P. Tenorio Multi-Purpose Center have totaled 1,123 so far.
