Regulators see no problem in allowing smoking inside temporary Garapan casino
The Commonwealth Casino Commission sees no issue in allowing smoking inside a temporary casino that will soon rise at the T Galleria in Saipan.
Commission executive director Edward Deleon Guerrero, said from his understanding, “the law allows it” and it is “legal.”
“There is a current law banning smoking in public facilities puts an exemption for casinos,” Deleon Guerrero said.
Guerrero acknowledged that there are some concerns “from some people” regarding the anti-smoking law.
Saipan Tribune has received feedback from workers in nearby establishments expressing concerns on smoking inside the casino, considering the casino is open 24×7.
But Deleon Guerrero said the exemption is there. “So if you are to ban it (smoking in gaming establishments), then you are violating the law. At the end of the day, the law allows smoking inside the casino.”
Updates
Deleon Guerrero said Best Sunshine International, Ltd. is continuing its training activities.
He said the third floor of the Bank of Guam is now being used by BSI for “food and beverage orientation,” while the fourth floor continues to be a gaming training facility.
“There are a bunch of gaming machines, and a lot of trainees,” Deleon Guerrero said, adding that security training is also being held.
Speaking of gaming machines, the commission has now issued eight provisional licenses. This means these vendors are licensed to sell gaming machines to BSI for the temporary gaming facility.
