Autism Society meeting today
The Autism Society of the CNMI will be holding its monthly meeting, scheduled for today, June 1, at 5:30pm at the Northern Marianas Protection and Advocacy Systems, Inc. conference room in Gualo Rai. All families and friends of individuals with autism and autism related spectrum disorders are invited to attend. Information regarding the group and future meetings will be available at this meeting. NMC School of Education Open House today
The Northern Marianas College School of Education is hosting an Open House for those who are considering teaching as a profession.
Participants of the Open House can learn about new scholarship opportunities like the TEACH Grant Program, the four different academic concentrations available at the School of Education, and other program features.
The free Open House will be held today, June 1, 2012, at NMC’s Building J from 4pm to 6pm. Light refreshments will be served. For more information about the event, contact 234-5498 Ext. 2234. (PR)
COP beach cleanup tomorrow
The Division of Environmental Quality’s cleanup brigade will be picking up trash at Coral Ocean Point Beach on Saipan tomorrow, June 2, 2012, at 8am. If you would like to volunteer, meet the DEQ representatives on Saturday at the beach entrance parking lot. Volunteers will split into groups and clean until 10am and break for drinks and then continue, if needed. For more information about volunteering, contact the DEQ office at 664-8500/1. (DEQ)
Air Force, Marine Corps, Navy training on FDM, Warning Area 517
The Air Force and Marine Corps will conduct training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla on June 2-8 from 8am to 11:59pm. The Air Force, Marine Corps, and Navy will conduct training at Warning Area 517 on June 2-8 from 8am to 11:59pm. The public-especially fishermen, commercial pilots and marine tour operators-are advised to stay clear from the area during the times and dates indicated.
The general location of the training on the island of Farallon de Medinilla training area will be on a 10 nautical mile radius on all quadrants.
W-517 is an irregular shaped polygon comprising 14,000 nautical square miles of airspace that begins south of Guam and extends south-southwest in international waters. This will affect fishing in the vicinity of Santa Rosa Reef and Galvez Bank. (PR)

Beautify Kagman High tomorrow
Kagman High School will be holding a Beautify Kagman High cleanup on Saturday, June 2 from 9 TO 12 at the KHS campus. This event is to help the school prepare for the graduation ceremony on Wednesday June 6, at 3:30pm. We are asking all of Kagman High School community members from Kagman 1 to As Matuis to come out and help beautify your school! Bring your bush cutter, water blaster, and rakes! We will provide the gas and water. (PR)
Kagman High end of the school year schedule
Kagman High School will be dismissing students early from May 31 through June 11. KHS students will be dismissed at 1pm following lunch.
* June 1: KHS students will be released at 1pm due to final exams.
* June 5: Annual awards ceremony at 9am. On this day, the awards for the graduates will be announced, from the presidential awards to the scholarship recipients.
* June 6: Dismissal for all students is at 1pm following lunch. Graduation ceremony starts at 3:30pm. All Kagman High School families are invited to witness the completion of this year’s senior class. Parking is limited so get there early! Tents will be set up for shade; however, it is recommended to bring drinking water to stay hydrated during the ceremony.
* June 7: Kagman High Sports Appreciation Day.
* June 8: Report cards will be sent home with students.
* June 11: Official last day of the school year.
Red Cross trainings set
The American Red Cross-NMI Chapter will be conducting the following Health & Safety training at its training room located on Airport Road:
* First Aid: Wednesday, June 6, and Thursday, June 21, 6pm-9pm
* Adult CPR/AED: Tues., June 5, and Wed., June 20, 6pm-9pm
* Pediatric CPR/AED: Sat., June 16, 8am-11am
Pre-registration is required at least 24-hours prior to training date. A $70 course-fee is required to participate in these trainings. Two-year certification cards are issued at end of training. Lt. Gov. Inos on Marianas Agupa
This Saturday, June 2, 2012, Marianas Agupa will feature Lt. Gov. Eloy S. Inos who will talk about the Retirement Fund’s active employees to move into the U.S. Social Security pension program and his proposal for a hybrid bill similar to the H.B. 17-226 that was vetoed by Gov. Benigno Fitial. The show is from 9am to 11am on Magic 100.3 FM.
