DUE TO NETWORK OUTAGE

Justices require filing of hard copy of all court docs

Since last Wednesday, the CNMI Judiciary’s electronic access and communications have been offline as a result of IT&E’s network outage.

Because of the problem, Chief Justice Alexandro C. Castro and associate justices John A. Manglona and Perry B. Inos ordered that until further notice all court documents must be filed in hard copy at the office of the clerks at the CNMI Supreme Court and Superior Court.

The justices said service of court filings normally effectuated electronically is deemed complete upon placement of the filings in the attorney’s box at the Superior Court or through personal service.

The justices said routine electronic payments must be posted at the cashier’s office at the House of Justice in Susupe, Garapan; at the Department of Finance in Songsong Village on Rota; and at the Department of Finance in San Jose Village on Tinian.

Saipan Tribune learned that mostly affected at the CNMI courts as well as in the U.S. District Court are the e-filings and calendar of hearings. Lawyers’ legal research has also been affected.
