Close to 100 presidents of Japan’s private companies that have more than $100 million in annual sales will start arriving today for the annual Entrepreneurs’ Organization Sports Festival that is expected to help boost the CNMI economy at least for the weekend.

Entrepreneurs’ Organization, or EO, was founded in 1987 by Dell Inc. founder Michael Dell. EO Japan, the largest in the Asia-Pacific region, will be the one that’s going to spend their weekend on Saipan.

Kojiro Tanaka, president of Japan-based advertising firm K’s Inc., said as far as he knows, this is the first time that EO Japan will hold its annual sports festival outside Japan, and this will help invigorate Saipan’s economy.

Tanaka, also president of Saipan-based AC USA Inc. that publishes N@chan! Tourist magazine and owns N@chan! Chi restaurant in Garapan, said once these company presidents get to learn and appreciate Saipan, they would be encouraged to also bring in their company to the island for company outings or retreats.

“The EO company presidents will be arriving Friday for the June 2 sports festival. The sports festival will be held whole day at the Fiesta Resort & Spa beach in Garapan. They will be staying on Saipan up to Monday,” Tanaka told Saipan Tribune.

He said among the beach activities tomorrow are beach volleyball, relay games, and others that promote camaraderie, teamwork and fitness.

Tanaka said among those coming are EO Japan president Seiji Nakamura.

“Mr. Sunny Tan, Nippon Travel Agency and Fiesta Hotel have all helped to make this happen for EO Japan,” he added.

The Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) is a “dynamic, global network of more than 8,000 business owners in 40 countries. Founded in 1987 by a group of young entrepreneurs, EO is the catalyst that enables entrepreneurs to learn and grow from each other, leading to greater business success and an enriched personal life,” EO Japan’s website says
