Two women have been indicted in federal court for alleged unlawful production of an identification document.

Yufeng Lin, also known as Mary Lin, and Xiuqin Weng were taken to the U.S. District Court for the NMI yesterday for an initial court appearance.

Chief Judge Ramona V. Manglona authorized their temporary release while the case is pending. The two will be arraigned on Tuesday, June 5, at 9am.

The indictment was filed under seal on Tuesday. The court unsealed the matter yesterday.

According to the indictment, on March 19, 2012, Lin and Weng without lawful authority caused the CNMI’s Vital Statistics Office of the Department of Public Health to produce a birth certificate for a child. No other details were given in the indictment.
