CUC to re-energize Kagman reservoir next

The Commonwealth Utilities Corp. will focus on reenergizing the Kagman reservoir after installing a generator at the Chalan Kiya area’s Duenas well yesterday, according to acting CUC executive director John Riegel.

CUC brought the generator up early afternoon yesterday, according to Riegel. They aim to begin providing pressurized water in Chalan Kiya today. CUC has begun restoring limited water services to several villages on island.

“The goal is install a generator down in Kagman,” Riegel told Saipan Tribune yesterday.

The USS Ashland delivered 10 generators ordered by the Federal Assistance Management Agency on Saturday to the island.

CUC—after installing a generator in Chalan Kiya—has brought up four of these generators prioritized for water service restoration.

Meantime, CUC brought up a generator late into the night on Sunday at their Sadog Tasi wastewater treatment plant, according to Riegel.

The power outage after Typhoon Soudelor rendered a plant generator unoperational. Waste was not receiving secondary treatment until the generator was restored on Sunday.
