Rotary recognizes Whitts for club contributions
The Rotary Club of Saipan has honored a former club official and his wife for their contributions to the organization.
The club recognized James Whitt, who served as president from year 2005 to 2006, at the Hyatt Regency Saipan this Tuesday.

The club also recognized Whitt’s wife, “Rotary Ann” Debra, for her contributions, especially when her husband was still a Rotary officer.
Debra Whitt was the person behind Rotary’s project “Parade of Books.”
Tuesday’s presentation was done by two-time Paul Harris awardee David Igitol and foundation director Ben Babauta.
“Now Parade of Books is still on, they only changed the name to include the high school,” Igitol said.
Whitt also recognized this contribution of his wife during his term.
“When I was president ‘05 to ‘06, I believe the theme at the time had to do with literacy. I give my beautiful wife Debbie ultimate credit due to her for the ingenious idea of having young kids in our schools, Saipan, Tinian, and Rota, to read a book and then portray what they had read in the form of costume and parade,” Whitt said.
“It’s a great success and I’m very happy that it has continued throughout the years,” he added. (Frauleine Michelle S. Villanueva)
