3 more host families sought for homestay program
The Saipan Mayor’s Office is looking for three more host families for students coming from Japan this July 28.
Saipan Mayor’s Office executive assistant Yuki Kishimoto said they will be conducting outdoor activities for the Kokusai Seishonen Kenshu Kyokai group during their visit to Saipan.
“We already have two host families but we need three more—two for the students and one for the chaperone,” Kishimoto said.
Tokyo’s International Youth Association of Japan KSKK will deploy nine students—six boys and three girls—escorted by a chaperone.
KSKK’s website shows that 90 percent of their students traveling overseas for homestay programs are either first-time travelers or can hardly speak English.
The KSKK was founded in 1973 and has contributed to the promotion of friendly exchanges between countries.
KSKK will host a trip for CNMI students interested in homestaying in Japan from Nov. 12 to 17, and KSKK students will arrive once again for homestay on Saipan on Dec. 24 to 30.
There will be other schools from Japan visiting the CNMI and will also need homestay accommodations.
Sanpoen students will be here on Aug. 5 to 11. Kishimoto said there will be 20 students—six boys and 14 girls. The age group for the students will be from 11 to 18.
“They will only need host families on the weekends. During the weekdays they will be staying at a hotel,” she said.
ECC English School students will arrive on Aug. 17 and will stay until 21 and Johoku High School will be on Saipan from Oct. 27 to 30 and will also need host families.
For more details, interested families can pick up homestay applications at the Saipan Mayor’s Office at the Ladera Center on Beach Road or call Kishimoto at 234-6208, 234-6280, and 235-7304.
