Veterans access procedures to USNH Guam
SANTA RITA, Guam—Last July 9, Director of the Guam Veterans Affairs Office Martin Manglona and Naval Base Guam Commanding Officer Capt. Andy Anderson met to discuss veterans access to U.S. Naval Hospital Guam.
Base access procedures have not changed and only veterans (other than retirees) with a scheduled appointment are allowed through the gate. To clarify, the following are the only cases permitted onto the base:
Veterans must present a VA ID card with their appointment letter stating the appointment date and time with the attachment instructing him or her to complete labs two weeks prior to the appointment date.
Veterans must present a VA ID card along with an appointment card (VA FORM 2505) with the date and time with either an MD or RN stamp with a diagonal line through the unused lines. This could be used for same day labs, radiology, pharmacy or specialty clinic appointments or multiple appointments.
If the veteran does not have a VA ID card, he or she may present a valid driver’s license at the Visitor Control Center (VCC) with the above documentation of appointment for a one day pass to access the hospital.
If the veteran is unable to drive and requires a person to bring him or her on base, a one day visitor’s pass may be obtained at the VCC with the veteran as stated above.
Should the veteran be unable to exit the vehicle to obtain a visitor’s pass, the driver assisting should inform the VCC and a security officer will verify the person in the vehicle and issue a one day visitor’s pass.
If the veteran requires emergency room care and arrives at the gate, an ambulance will be dispatched to assess the emergency. In the event of an emergency, always dial 911 as ambulances are not stopped at the gate.
