DUE TO DIFFICULTY IN RECRUITMENT
Hospital to look into past applications for CFO
It’s already been 10 months since the hospital last had a financial chief as it is having a hard time recruiting one.
Because of this Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. chief executive officer Esther Muna and hospital executives have now resorted to surveying past applications of possible candidates for the chief financial officer job.
Muna said they are looking at a total of 21 possible candidates for the CFO position and have touched base with past applicants if they are still interested.
“We still have their files and in the past they were interested prior to the former CFO [Jack Taitague] and we’ll see if they’re still interested,” she said.
Former CHCC CFO Jack Taitague resigned from his post in August last year, just a few months after being hired.
Last March, the hospital was close to recruiting a former hospital CFO, however its offer was declined and the hospital started the recruitment process once again.
As of now, Cora Ada is the acting CFO.
The hospital is now only working with financial consultants providing help to the cash-strapped corporation.
When asked about the finance officer, Muna said that they haven’t had any luck in finding a finance officer so far.
“The finance officer will be helping the CFO, but in the mean time the finance officer position is still open and not closed so interested individuals can still apply for it. The finance officer will not only help the CFO but assist while we don’t have a CFO,” Muna said.
“Right now, we’re using a financial consultant, while we’re looking, and we’re closing on the gap for the bills, and still have some issues with the Electronic Health Record system [EHR],” she added.
She said the hospital does need a CFO but the CFO needs to understand health financials, which is complex in its own way.
