The CNMI’s Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. and Department of Public Safety are set to receive more federal funding.

Delegate Gregorio Kilili C. Sablan (Ind-MP), in his weekly e-newsletter, said the CHCC “is receiving $1 million that Congress provides to help children and teenagers with emotional disturbance and their families.”

The Comprehensive Community Mental Health Services grant was announced this week by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. It is said to pay for individualized service plans to be developed and implemented for each young person in the program.

According to Sablan, the plans are put together with the participation of the family, and where appropriate, the child. A case manager then assists in carrying out the service plan.

The U.S. Department of Transportation, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, meanwhile, awarded a grant of $16,944 to DPS.

In his e-newsletter, Sablan said the State Traffic Safety Information System Improvement Grants support efforts to improve the data systems needed to help identify priorities for highway safety programs, to link intrastate data systems, and to improve the compatibility and interoperability with national data systems for highway safety purposes.
