Ayuyu grabs Belau league batting lead

Jerry Ayuyu made a huge jump in the batting leaders of the 2015 Belau Masters Softball League as he is now on top of the field.

Ayuyu, after the games played last Sunday afternoon, has a .794 batting average on a 27-for-34 performance at the plate to hold a .149 edge over former leader Darwin Masaharu. The CNMI police officer was nowhere among the batting leaders a month ago, but slowly worked his way to reach the top.

Masaharu dropped to second, going 20-for-31 for .645, followed by Mark Toves’ .634, while Ben Hocog and Tom Camacho completed the Top 5 with .631 and .594 averages, respectively. Mark Flores (.593), Julian Camacho (.583), John Pilalur (.578), Lefty Shiro (.548), and Lito Skilang (529) made it to the Top 10 batting leaders.

Pepi Tenorio (.527), Ebech (.516), Peyton Sakuma (.515), Jack Diaz (.514), Tailor Germance (.500), Joseph Celis (.500), Ernie Bell (.473), and Poland Yamada (.468) are the other members of the batting leaders.

Ayuyu is also the current homerun king, as he has already belted 9 four-baggers, and leads the RBI department with 27. In the runs category, he has scored a total of 21 to place second behind Hocog’s league-leading 24. Toves has notched 18 runs to rank third, while Shiro has been credited with 17 for fourth place.

Jude Dickerson is two homers short with 7 to take second place behind Ayuyu, while Hocog has 6 for third place. Hocog added 19 RBIs to place second, followed by Jeff Cabrera and Tom Camacho’s 18 and 17, respectively.

Oscar Sablan is the current doubles leader with 6 and closely followed by Jeff Diaz’s 5, while Toves and Max Kachasang have 4 apiece. In the triples department, Hocog has made 4 to lead Toves and Max Kachasang, who have earned 3 each.

Tom Camacho is the top pitcher in terms of strikeouts with a total of 26 followed by the 25 of Tosh Beltau, while Mike Sablan, Kuich Damian, and Juan Diaz tallied 21, 20, and 19, respectively.
