Host families still needed for KSKK Japan students
The Saipan Mayor’s Office is still looking for host families for students coming from Japan this July and in the upcoming months.
Nine students from Tokyo’s International Youth Association of Japan Kokusai Seishonen Kenshu Kyokai group will be arriving on July 28 and will need families willing to host them.
Saipan Mayor’s Office executive assistant Yuki Kishimoto said they will be conducting outdoor activities for the KSKK group during their visit to Saipan.
The students will arrive July 28 and will leave Aug. 4.
The nine students include six boys and three girls and are escorted by one chaperone.
According to the KSKK website, the homestay program allows Japanese students to interact with different cultures and enhance their knowledge of the cultures of the place they are visiting.
According to the website, 90 percent of their students traveling overseas for homestay programs are either first-time travelers or can hardly speak English.
The KSKK was founded in 1973 and has contributed to the promotion of friendly exchanges between countries.
There will be other schools from Japan visiting the CNMI and will need home stay.
On Aug. 5 to 11 Sanpoen students will be arriving, ECC English School students will arrive on Aug. 17 to 21, and Johoku High School will arrive on Oct. 27 to 30. KSKK will have a trip for CNMI students interested in homestay in Japan on Nov. 12 to 17, and while KSKK students will arrive once again for homestay in Saipan from Dec. 24 to 30.
