Rumors persist, but Inos not stepping down
Press Secretary Ivan Blanco dismissed rumors that Gov. Eloy S. Inos is resigning due to the continued decline of his health.
Blanco said as far as he knows, the governor continues to report to Capital Hill to perform his duties. He said Inos also continues his regular medical treatment, including regular dialysis.
Rumors have been persistent, particularly online comments citing Inos’ frail appearance in the public functions that he has been attending.
According to one government worker, who requested anonymity, some CNMI residents also voiced their concerns and directly asked if the top official is “okay” or if he will still continue to run the government.
This is not the first time that Inos’ health has been questioned.
Back in February, Inos issued a statement to say that he is “okay.”
He clarified that he sought treatment back then for “what the doctors were calling symptoms of pneumonia.”
Inos has always been open about his health condition, earlier revealing that he’s been receiving dialysis thrice a week.
Shortly after returning from a routine checkup in the Philippines in early November last year, Inos disclosed that his medical leave to Manila was for a follow up to a bypass heart surgery he had in 2006.
