HANMI: Serving the community through the years

For 30 years, the Hotel Association of the Northern Mariana Islands has helped the community through various charity works and donations with different organizations.

Quite a number of organizations, schools, and other cause-oriented groups have been the recipients of assistance from HANMI.

“They are too many to mention. We’ve helped different organizations fund their projects,” said HANMI chair Gloria Cavanagh in an interview with Saipan Tribune during last Saturday’s awards banquet of the 14th Annual HANMI Charity Golf Classic at Saipan World Resort’s Royal Taga Hall.

“HANMI has been doing this every year and we will continue to do it in the coming years,” she added.

The Mayor’s Office, the Northern Marianas Technical Institute, the Marianas Visitors Authority, the Man’amko Center, and the Taste of the Marianas are some of the recipients of HANMI’s donations this year.

Meanwhile, tournament director Das Krishnan said he still needs two more days to finish closing the books and determine the total money raised during the annual golf event.

“The HANMI board meets and it decides which organizations and activities would receive assistance,” said Krishnan in a separate interview.

Club Lao president and golf instructor Jun Park ruled the championship course of the HANMI Golf Classic, while Manny Mangarero, with his 69.80 score, topped the Blackjack double Peoria event.

A total of 140 golfers joined last weekend’s tournament and cash and other prizes were given to the first to 10th finishers, as well as the individuals who placed 20th, 30th, 40th, 50th, 60th, 70th, 80th, 90th, 100th, and 110th.
