Grab your free comic books tomorrow
Everyone is invited to grab free comic books as Saipan celebrates Free Comic Book Day tomorrow.
More than a thousand comics will be given away at the Joeten-Kiyu Public Library and Green Flash Comics.
“Even if you have never picked up a comic book, stop by Green Flash Comics in Garapan because you never know what you will end up finding,” Green Flash owner Glenn Keaton said.
At least two or three comic books may be given to each person.
Free Comic Book Day will start at the public library at 9:30am to 11:30am and will continue on Green Flash at 12pm to 7pm.
Winners of the Mariana Islands Legends art contest will also be announced in the morning at the library.
Cosplayers are also invited to come to the library as a cosplay contest will be held. There will be a division for kids, teens, and adults. Exciting prizes await those who will join.
Free Comic Book Day is celebrated in comic book shops around the world usually on the first Saturday of May but because of shipping delays, Saipan celebrates it on the second Saturday of June.
Over 4.6 million comic books are given away by participating stores with the hope of introducing the industry and the art to as many people as possible.
“We at Green Flash Comics want to spread the word that comics are perfect for today’s times. Comic books, mangas, and graphic novels are considered a hot form of entertainment that are fun and a smart pick for readers to dive into as imagination comes to life with the turn of every page,” Keaton said.
“Free Comic Book Day has been and will continue to be a big day in the comic book world,” he added.
