NMSF 10K fun run on June 27

The Northern Marianas Sports Foundation will hold its inaugural NMSF 10-kilometer fun run on June 27, which starts and ends at Micro Beach.

The race, dubbed Healthy Community Leads to a Healthy Economy, is NMSF’s fundraising event proceeds of which will help Northern Marianas Sports Association support CNMI athletes and improve all sports facilities.

Walk-in registration starts at 5:15am and the run time is at 6am. The racecourse is from Hyatt Regency heading toward Beach Road, take the pathway and turn around at the Ladera Center in Chalan Lao Lao, and back to Micro Beach.

Registration fee is $10 for the open division, while $7 for the Under-15 youth runners. Prizes will be given to the winners of various age groups while a raffle will also take place after the run.

Registration forms are available at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium.

All CNMI sports federations are also advised to man water stations and have at least 10 of their members to join the fun run. Contact NMSA vice president Dr. Kurt Barnes for assignments.

The water stations will be at Cha Bakery at the old Winchell’s building, the Carolinian Affairs Office, the 13 Fishermen Monument, National Office Supply, the tank at Quartermaster Road, and the turn around across the Ladera Center.

Federations that will volunteer are asked to be at their water stations at 5:15am and should bring tent, tables, cups, water, water jug, and ice.

The NMSF will provide trash bags. Federations can also leave their trash at the water stations or dropped off at the Gilbert C. Ada Gymnasium trash bins.
