Longuski tops Run For Nepal

Proceeds of the fundraising drive, which started and ended at the Garapan Fishing Base right beside the Garapan Public Market, would be donated to the victims of the devastating 7.8-magnitude earthquake that hit Nepal on April 25.

Longuski bested close to 150 runners that participated in the event, organized by the Saipan’s Nepalese community in partnership with the Saipan Young Professionals.

The Commonwealth Health Center physician assistant, who has topped various running events on Saipan, finished the course in just 22 minutes to top the senior division (over 10 years old),

Jack Stewart reached the finish line three minutes behind Longuski at 25 minutes, while Alex Johanson was a close third at 27 minutes.

Song, on the other hand, ruled the Under-11 age group as he crossed the finish line in 28 minutes followed by Joshua Abragan (30 minutes), while Sam Ryu placed third (32 minutes). Rex Pixley was fourth.

The final time of each finisher in the race was based after the 6:54am start time of all those who participated in the 5K race.

Organizers of the fundraising event said that more than 300 registered but chose not to run and instead donated the $10 registration fee as their gesture to help the in the relief drive in Nepal.

Tan Holdings president Jerry Tan and Philippine Honorary Consul Eli Arago were among those who joined the event.
