Obama declares federal disaster area for Guam

HAGÅTÑA, Guam—Delegate Madeleine Z. Bordallo (D-GU) issued Saturday the following statement regarding President Barack Obama’s declaration of a federal disaster area for Guam in response to Typhoon Dolphin. The declaration frees up federal funds for Public Assistance and Hazard Mitigation grant programs to help with recovery efforts. 

“I appreciate President Obama’s grant of a federal disaster declaration for Guam following Typhoon Dolphin. This declaration will free up federal funds to help our community fully recover from the typhoon and return to a state of normalcy. I commend our local and federal agencies for their efforts in ensuring that our community was prepared for Typhoon Dolphin and for their work in responding in its aftermath. I look forward to these funds helping our community return to normal.” (Office of the Delegate)
