Led by CNMI tourism ambassador Chiaki Nagumo, Network Japan will be celebrating its 7th anniversary with their annual memorial service on Sunday, June 7, at the Last Command Post in Marpi.

The memorial service, which will be from 9am to 10am, will be preceded by a dinner celebration the night before.

Nagumo said that Japan Consul Hitoshi Kikuchi, Marianas Visitors Authority managing director Perry Tenorio, and representatives from the CNMI Japanese Society will be attending.

Saipan Mayor David M. Apatang, in an interview on Tuesday, said he will attend the ceremony to strengthen Saipan’s partnership with Japan.

“I will be making brief remarks as requested by Nagumo,” Apatang said.

The group works with celebrities and media in Japan and there will be 40 to 50 people attending, according to Saipan Mayor’s Office executive assistant Yuki Kishimoto.

Nagumo, along with actors and actresses from Japan, have been to Saipan over the years, conducting shoots, productions, and peace memorials.

“I invite the public to join in the peace memorial and honor those that passed from World War II and continue our long bond and relationship with Japan,” Apatang said.
