HANMI donated a portion of its proceeds of the first week of the Taste of the Marianas to the Saipan Mayor’s Office in support of the recently concluded spay and neuter clinic.
“Our anniversary celebrates 30 years of building a stronger Commonwealth with the government and the community,” said HANMI chair Gloria Cavanagh. “A number of our hotels made in-kind donations of sheets and other materials to the spay and neuter clinic, and as an organization, HANMI wanted to add some cash to that. Stray dog population control is an effort both local community members and visitors care about.”
Representatives of the Saipan Mayor’s Office and clinic co-sponsor Animal Balance also addressed HANMI at their general membership meeting on May 28, 2015, to share about the dog control program and additional opportunities for networking with the hotel industry.
On Saturday HANMI also donated a portion of its proceeds from the second week of the festival to Crime Stoppers.
“Every resident wants to live in a safe community, just as every visitor wants a safe visit,” said Cavanagh. “HANMI has made several donations to Crime Stoppers in the past, and we felt this would be a good opportunity to again support their important work in our islands.”
Participating hotels who contributed to the donations are Fiesta Resort & Spa, Hyatt Regency Saipan, Kanoa Resort Saipan, Mariana Resort & Spa, and Pacific Islands Club Saipan,
Donations of proceeds from weeks 3 and 4 of the festival will be announced shortly.
