Recipients of SCC scholarship, SYP new logo revealed today
The Saipan Chamber of Commerce will be holding its General Membership Meeting for June at the Hibiscus Hall of Fiesta Resort & Spa.
On the agenda is the presentation of the lucky applicants who were chosen to receive the Chamber’s one time monetary award this year.
The Educational Scholarship Fund is a tradition of the Chamber and is used to help students defray the cost of their secondary education.
Six applicants will receive the $2,000 Chamber scholarship. They have four awards for high school, one for college, and one for vocational studies.
Included in the basic considerations for the scholarship are academic excellence, extracurricular success, leadership force and service learning.
“This is always a fun meeting, and personally I’m very inspired by the smart and talented group of applicants,” said executive director Jill M. Arenovski.
Also on the agenda is the reveal of the new logo for the Chamber’s committee of the Saipan Young Professionals after they held a logo-design contest for high school students.
The logo will represent the committee’s core value and identity as Saipan’s young professionals and will also symbolize SYP’s value in education, dedication to collaboration, and belief in a better Marianas.
Winning participants of the contest will receive $300, $200, and $100 plus gift packages. Another two will be chosen to receive consolation gift packages.
