Students in the Northern Marianas celebrated May Tourism Month with a series of activities coordinated by the Marianas Visitors Authority.

Students from several schools took to the roadsides on May 8, 2015, to show their support for the tourism industry with a waving campaign. In all, 13 public schoolswith MY WAVE Clubs received a promotional banner from the MVA.

An essay contest was held for public elementary school students under the theme, “Who are our visitors and what do we know about each of our source markets?” A video contest open to MY WAVE Club students was also conducted under the theme, “Who are our visitors and what do we know about each of our source markets?”

“The MVA’s strong partnership with the Marianas Tourism Education Council has greatly increased student awareness of the industry through our annual school presentations,” said MVA Community Projects manager Martin Duenas. “Tourism Month activities aimed to give the students additional incentive to learn more about the industry on their own and to teach others.”

Winners will be announced shortly and cash prizes will be awarded. (MVA)
