CNMI May Masters rolls off today

The 30th CNMI May Masters Bowling Tournament will be held beginning today, May 25, at the Saipan Bowling Center.
The first day of the three-day bowl-fest will feature singles (three games), doubles (three games), and team (four players and three games) events.
Registration will begin at 1:30pm, while the singles game is set at 2pm. The doubles and team events will begin at 4:15pm and 6:30pm.
The singles, doubles, and team competitions will tomorrow, May 26, from 9am to 2pm. Then at 6pm, the centerpiece event-the May Masters-women’s division, will kick off with female keglers playing 12 games.
The May Masters culminates with the men’s masters on Sunday, May 27. The 12-game event will start at 9am.
In both women’s and men’s masters, there should be at least 12 bowlers registered to proceed with the competition and the bowler to record the highest pinfalls wins the masters tournament.
Last year, Raymond Zapanta claimed his first May Masters men’s title after collecting 2,406 pinfalls in 12 games.
Two-time women’s champ Ron Cal, meanwhile, returned to the winner’s podium following a 12-game total of 2,205.
The 2012 May Masters Bowling Tournament is sponsored by Budweiser, MARPAC, Jet Holdings/Saipan Bowling Center, Shirley’s Coffee Shop, and IT&E. It concludes with an awards ceremony at 6:30pm on Sunday at Shirley’s Coffee Shop in Susupe.
