Galang, Yasuda are Environmental Top Models for 2015
The 5th Annual Environmental Top Model was held last Saturday at the 360 Night Market in Susupe, with 16 models showcasing wearables made from recycled materials.
Headed by event organizer Sharmaine Casquero, the event started with the models showing off their summer wear, with the girls using as accessories the nature-friendly eco bags they made with Micronesia Islands Nature Alliance.

For the highlight of the night, the candidates modeled clothes made from reused, repurposed, and recycled materials. Some of the materials that were creatively used were old foils, tetra packs, feather duster, rice sacks, broken umbrella, plastics, pet bottles, table mats, tin cans, and garbage bags.
The trashwear clothes were designed by Nhemie Cayao and Remy Rebellion. They have been designing for the modeling show for five years.
In the end, the 2015 Environmental Top Model Award for female and male categories went to Michelle Galang and Ken Yasuda, who were given $100 cash each.
Galang wore a Serpentina-style gown made from used sacks designed with plastic flowers and paper cutouts. Yasuda, on the other hand, wore a winged, Grecian warrior-inspired outfit with foil as the main material and decorated with feather dusters.
