H.O.M.E. Visiting is a program under the Maternal and Child Health Bureau of the Division of Public Health Services at the Commonwealth Healthcare Corp. and has been serving families in the CNMI since May 2013.
The program is free, voluntary, and serves pregnant women and women who have recently given birth, along with their families, by providing individually-tailored support through education on their children’s health, development and safety, and coordination of referrals to other needed community support services. Home visits range from weekly to quarterly, in which an assigned Family Partner Advocate meets with a family in the convenience of their homes or at an agreed upon location. Family Partner Advocates are trained to support family functioning through the use of an evidenced-based curriculum. Other services include prenatal and well-baby check-up planning, goal setting, and developmental assessments.
The program is offered to those who qualify in the villages of Garapan, Kagman, Dandan, San Antonio, and Koblerville and has recently been expanded t the neighboring islands of Tinian and Rota.
